Take The Day Off™ - Cleansing Balm

Super nice!

This is honestly a great product. Does the job properly, imo sensitive skin safe, and no overbearing fragrance. It’s a 4 star because I feel the product clumps a lot instead of melting easily. It may just be the mini size’s doing?

Be careful with your eyes 

Great product to get off face make up, but be very careful when removing eye makeup, cause it will remove it, but if you get it in your eye it stays there for a minute. Also a great hammer. 

Even after three tries, this balm didn’t remove my mascara completely and left a greasy film on my skin. It feels heavy and doesn’t clean the pores well — not worth the hype.

Old formula was better

Used to use the old formula version of this & thought I'd revisit after having switched to DHC oil for years but I was very disappointed. The colour stained my hands, the charcoal aggravated my skin especially the eyes & hasn't got a pleasant smell to it. I couldn't even use this as a body wash to use up as it was extremely drying. Had to dispose of it after only 3 uses.

Caused Major Breakout

If you have acne prone skin, I would not use this. Caused a major breakout!

Waste of money

Broke me out. Clogged my pores and BARELY took off makeup, had to use it twice to get all mascara off.

Staple in my routine

This balm really does "take the day off!" I wear a good amount of makeup and this removes every trace of face makeup, eyeliner, lipstick, whatever you've got. It is so gentle on my skin. It doesn't clog my pores or irritate my skin. A little goes a long way too, so you definitely get your money's worth. I started with a travel size, but I love it so much I bought the largest size they have!

don't recommend, filmy eyes

I usually use the liquid version of this, but thought I'd give this a try. Didnt work well for me, it got inside of my eye easily creating a film I had to wash out with eye drops. On top of that I still needed to go in with water and a micellar water to finish removing my mascara.

Charcoal is a bug, no a feature

I guess that the Take The Day Off range of product can't do an absolute wrong even when they try; and Clinique really tried with this one. Imagine the luxurious experience of removing makeup with the original cleansing balm being literally tainted by charcoal. My face was black, my sync was black, my washcloth was black. And my face also stinks like charcoal. Was it efficient at removing makeup? Absolutely yes. If I had another complaint it was that it left my skin slightly dry; which for someone with more oily skin than me might be a benefit.

My Most Honest Review

I use this as the first step in my double cleansing routine at night. Just this and the Vanicream gentle cleanser and I’ve never had such smooth, clear, and glossy skin. I would recommend double-cleansing with this because leaving it on your face without thoroughly washing it off can leave a waxy feeling (as some negative reviews had mentioned). You can still use water, but it saves time to use a gentle cleanser. Don’t worry, it’s easily avoidable :) The balm feels so luxurious and silky and helps me wind down at the end of the day. It follows through on its promise to “Take the Day Off.” It thoroughly removes my SPF and any makeup with ease. I’ve noticed in some comments about this, so I will mention, use some common sense when cleaning your eyes. Be sure not to get any in your eye as it will make your vision temporarily blurry (easily reversible with water) and treat the area gently. You won’t lose any eyelashes if you’re being gentle. Amazing product, amazing results. I loooove this and will continue to repurchase because it’s effective and lasts foreeeever.

Irritated my eyes

It removes makeup so well but it irritated my eyes so bad. It’s a shame because it’s such a great product. 😔

Gem for breaks away

This is such a good product and I love this little pot. It is so useful for travel and as a solid can go in hand luggage. For travelling there is a real benefit to this not being a glass pot. It will last a fortnights holiday as you do not need too much
